About Utah’s Legislative Session
Utah’s annual legislative session is a critical period when state lawmakers convene to consider and enact policies that shape the future of Utah’s economy, communities, and quality of life. Held each year beginning in January (1st Tuesday after the 3rd Monday in January), the session lasts 45 days total, including weekends.
During this time, bills are introduced in the House and Senate, heard in committee meetings, and advanced through a structured process before reaching the Governor’s desk for approval or veto. The session is highly dynamic, with a fast-paced schedule that requires ongoing engagement from stakeholders, industry leaders, and the public.

Each legislative session, the Utah Tourism Industry Association tracks hundreds of bills that impact the tourism industry in Utah. We support our membership through legislative engagement with a weekly legislative brief. This brief will provide a high-level narrative of key issues and their impact on the visitor economy, however, provides a deeper dive than the bill tracker. These weekly updates are a resource reserved for our active membership.
